Honors Program:

Walden now has an honors-level option available in each class offered. Students who successfully complete the requirements outlined below will have those classes designated as “honors” classes on their transcripts. Our objectives for this program include:

1. To challenge students to move beyond the regular curriculum in their academic pursuits

2. To provide an opportunity for students to compete with themselves in order to explore their personal limits

3. To provide opportunities for students to experience successes that will increase self-esteem and self-confidence

4. To provide an integrated, interdisciplinary academic experience for students

While an honors designation will not affect a student’s cumulative grade point average, the designation will indicate a successful attempt on the part of the student to set higher academic goals than required for regular credit and an ability to integrate and apply knowledge. Honors classes will also require students to participate in a research project (including a paper), demonstrate an increased self-understanding, and incorporate elements from the larger community into their studies.

Students who wish to participate in the program should speak individually with the teacher of each class in which the student desires to participate.
